He is a Full Professor of Psychiatry and was Head of the Department of Neurosciences and Behavioral Sciences at FMRP, University of São Paulo, where he coordinated the services of: (i) Anxiety; (ii) Psychogeriatrics and; (iii) Interconsultation in Mental Health at HC, FMRP-USP. He is a CNPq research productivity researcher (1A). He has a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraná (1994) and a medical residency at the Hospital das Clínicas of the USP-RP Medical School (1995-1998). He completed his doctorate in Medicine (Mental Health) at the FMRP of the University of São Paulo (2001). He did a post-doctorate at the London Institute of Psychiatry (London University, Kings College) in the area of neuroimaging (2002-2003). He was Honorary Professor at the Institute of Psychiatry of London, University of London until 2010. He has experience in the field of Psychiatry, with an emphasis on neuroimaging and psychopharmacology, working mainly on the following subjects: cannabinoids, social anxiety, assessment instruments in psychiatry and psychiatric interconsultation. He accepted the International Association of Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM) award for his career contribution to clinical cannabinoid research in Berlin in 2019.
