Legal Status

Cannabis is a Class B Schedule 1 drug. It is illegal to possess, supply or produce this drug.

Special police guidelines exist in relation to arrest for possession of cannabis.

Possession of Class B drugs carries a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment and a fine. Trafficking offences carry maximum sentences of 14 years imprisonment and a fine. There is no medical defence currently observed by the law.

The IACM will hold its 11th Conference on Cannabinoids in Medicine in collaboration with the Asociación Mexicana de Medicina Cannabinodie from 5 to 7 November 2020 in Mexico City. It will be a virtual congress

IACM Conference 2021

The 12th IACM Conference on Cannabinoids in Medicine will be held in Basel, Switzerland, from 14 to 16 October 2021.
